Da ich momentan sehr viel skype hatte ich das Problem, dass ich während Skype online war, keine andere Audioquelle anhören konnte. Durch einen tollen Hinweis im PulseAudio Wiki ist dies jetzt wieder möglich.

Dazu legt man einfach eine Datei namens ~/.asoundrc an und füllt diese mit folgenden 2 Zeilen:

pcm.pulse { type pulse }
ctl.pulse { type pulse }

Die Änderungen in der /etc/pulse/daemon.conf waren bei mir nicht notwendig.

Dazu installiert man noch das Paket libasound2-plugins. Jetzt sollte ein Abmelden und dann wieder Anmelden ausreichen damit Pulseaudio die Datei ausliest.

Anschließend kann man im Skype die Audioquellen und -ausgaben auf das neue Gerät pulse stellen und Skype wird kompatibel.

Kleiner Hinweis noch: Bei mir ist das Paket skype-static installiert, ob es mit den anderen (im speziellen oss) funktioniert weiß ich nicht.

Wenn danach nur der Ton bei anderen Anwendungen als Flash geht, fehlt wahrscheinlich noch das Paket flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound (das macht Flash geschmeidig) – nicht vergessen danach Flash (bzw. den Firefox) neuzustarten.

Update: In Intrepid Ibex this package is now called flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound.

as some of you may have already recognized, in Ubuntu Hardy, normale sound applications and Flash in Firefox don’t play well. For example: if you first start Rhythmbox, hear some music and later run Firefox to watch some Youtube it plays without sound.

This problem is known and there is a solution! Just install libflashsupport.
